Miley Cyrus has said that thinking of her fans helped her to get through her depression woes, according to mirror.co.uk.

The singer, 21, claimed that she suffered from the mental illness because she was so worried about her acne. The star claimed that her skin woes left her feeling "bullied" and insecure, however she said that she knew that if she overcame her battles, it would act as an inspiration to her fans.

Talking about the situation, she told elle.com: "They [her fans] know that I've struggled with depression and that helped them get over theirs."

Cyrus added: "That gives me a big purpose - a reason to wake up in the morning that's bigger than to put on my feathers and my little outfits."

The popstar even admitted that her Dad, fellow singer, Billy Ray Cyrus, even had to break down the door once after she locked herself in the bathroom during a particularly bad period.

The revelation comes in a tough week for the star, after her dog, Floyd was killed last Saturday (April 6). Miley was pictured looking inconsolable when stepping out after the incident occurred, however seemed a little brighter when she was pictured with a new pet dog this week.
