Why This Course?

To start this course you must have successfully graduated from your core training, (e.g., holding a Level 5 Professional Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Practice – or equivalent). You must also be an Accredited Registrant of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society. These two requirements together demonstrate you have met the competencies outlined in the SCoPEd Framework Column A. In addition, you must be in supervised practice as a counsellor.

Are you looking towards progressing your NCPS Accredited Registration to next level PNCPS (Acc) and moving from Column A to Column B of the SCoPEd framework?

Advanced Professional training courses are aimed at qualified and registered practitioners who wish to advance their learning and experience and to progress to further levels of professional body membership including the grade of Accredited Professional Registrant (PNCPS Acc.) They are designed to enable graduates to fulfil the training requirements for this grade and to support trainees in acquiring the competences in Column B of the SCoPEd framework.

The general criteria for this category recognition are listed below:

The course will offer extensive support to practitioners in acquiring enhanced clinical skills and theoretical knowledge for counselling/psychotherapy with adults.

It will normally contain at least 150 hours of live training in the room or a blend of such with synchronous online learning.

The course will be delivered by qualified practitioners who have significant experience in the specialist field being taught.

(Please note that applying for a membership upgrade with the NCPS will also require additional criteria alongside training, to include a minimum number of client hours and an assessment of reflective practice.)

Running for 1-year on a part-time basis, students will meet in person for 1 full weekend per month (Saturday and Sunday from 10am-6pm) with short online sessions between.
