Successful candidates will achieve an AIM Awards Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Practice 601/2242/0

Our higher level Psychotherapeutic Counselling Courses follow on from our Diploma in Counselling Skills and Theory which you will need to pass, and cannot usually be applied for directly. With Chrysalis, you have the opportunity to progress to Level 6 (graduate level) and beyond with a clear and easy progression route which seamlessly builds on your previous work. You can achieve Higher Education level qualifications within 6 months – 1 year of passing your main professional training with us.

Years One & Two: Previous Modules as per Chrysalis Level 4 Diploma in Counselling Skills & Theory

Year Three:  Over 11 module days, you’ll study the following seven units:

1. The Humanistic Approach to Counselling

Includes; Contracting with Clients

2. The Psychodynamic Approach to Counselling

Includes; Legal Issues

3. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy & Integration

Includes; Difference & Diversity

4. Understanding Depression; Human Relationships

Includes; Ethical Issues

5. Abuse and Addiction

Includes; Use of Supervision

6. Personal and Professional Aspects of Counselling

Includes; CPD

7. Counselling Practicum

Includes; Understanding working in a placement; completing 100 supervised clinical hours

Normal Requirement: Pass our Level 4 Diploma. 

In addition to Level 4, this course requires:

  • 100 hours of supervised practice in an approved external placement
  • 2 additional attended taught modules on counselling practice
  • A written account of your placement work
