This level 6 diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling course follow on from our Level 5 Professional Diploma which you will need to pass, and cannot usually be applied for directly.

SYLLABUS
Requirements: Successfully completing this course requires the successful completion of Course 3, with which it shares common units. You must be enrolled on Course 3 in order to apply to do Course 4.
Applications for Course 4 from students who have successfully completed an equivalent Level 5 training elsewhere can be considered. Satisfactory evidence of 100 hours clinical practice in the form of supervisors’ and placement providers’ reports will be required.
In addition to Level 5, this course requires you to complete a research project in the field of counselling.
You’ll be provided with the skills you need to carry out research in the counselling field, such as undertaking a literature review and producing a research proposal and you’ll be able to submit an academic research project to gain your qualification.
The course has two mandatory components: -
- Research in Counselling – this is designed to give you the skillset to prepare a research proposal for your dissertation.
- Counselling Research Dissertation – this will be writing your dissertation based on your research proposal.
The course will require you to: -
- Attend a session once per month online.
- Study on the Chrysalis Moodle platform
- Attend one to one meetings with your course supervisor – these sessions are designed to help you through your journey
- Submit a research proposal for external marking
- Submit a dissertation from 10,000 - 12,000 words for external marking
It is important to note that the course is externally marked and as such there will be deadlines that need to be met for the external markers.

Once we have received the application the course tutors will assess the application for suitability; once your application has been approved you will be invited to an interview with the course tutors.
The interview is designed to make sure that students are suitable for the qualification and that students are well informed about the requirements of the qualification.
Once you have successfully passed the interview you will be invited to enrol onto the course. Prior to being able to start, students must: -- Pay a deposit
- Complete a training agreement
How Do I Apply?
If you wish to apply for the qualification please email extendeddiplomas@chrysaliscourses.ac.uk requesting an application form.
A member of the team will then send through an application form for you to complete. Once we have received this application form we will schedule an interview with the course tutor, during your interview you will be able to discuss the course in full details as well as ask any questions you may have. Once a student has been accepted they would then be invited to enrol onto the qualification.
