Marriage counselling sees Douglas and Zeta-Jones renew their vows

Hollywood A-list couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones look set to renew their vows after successful marriage counselling put their relationship back on track, reports.

The couple have been dogged by press reports over the last few years which claimed the power couple were on the brink of divorce. It was even reported they had split briefly last year, before getting back together.

Now it seems the relationship is stronger than ever - and they are even thinking of renewing their vows - thanks to a successful programme of marriage counselling.

A source close to the couple, who have been married for 14 years, has said they plan on reaffirming their love on 25 September this year. This rather specific date has been chosen because it is also their shared birthday.

They went on to add that Douglas and Zeta-Jones decided to undergo counselling for the benefit of their two children; Dylan, 13, and Carys, ten.

"Michael and Catherine have been through a lot together over the last few months," the source told

"Counselling has been a massive help. They've been working on different ways to express feelings - including daily journals. They only show them to each other if things get bad - it's a way of giving them an outlet. They're going to take one month apart a year - they've realised how important it is to take a breather and allow themselves to take stock."
